I am Sylvain Darrigues, a French photographer based in Kobe, Japan.
My work explores portraiture, fashion-inspired imagery and editorial visual storytelling, with a strong focus on lighting, composition, mood, texture and retouching.
For me, a shoot is not simply a moment of documentation.
It is a creative process built around presence, atmosphere, expression and the way a person inhabits an image.
Rather than standard profile photography, I aim to create refined portraits that express a sense of character, visual identity and personal world.
Each image is shaped through mood, lighting, composition, posing, atmosphere and retouching, with attention to both subtle details and the overall feeling of the portrait.
I also work with people who are not used to being photographed, guiding expression and movement in a natural and comfortable way.
My photographic practice is oriented toward models, artists, creatives and people involved in visual or personal expression, with the goal of creating portraits that feel intimate, cinematic and memorable.
Based in Kobe, I create photographic work across the Kansai area, including Osaka and Kyoto.
